Raiders relishing partnership with DW Fitness

THE beast from the east may have sent shivers down the spines of most of as the icy blasts bit, but not for Barrow Raiders who – thanks to their partnership with DW Fitness – enjoyed the best in the west.

Horrible winter weather would, in the past, have caused huge problems on players’ training regimes, but the doors of DW are always open to the Betfred Championship club – and will remain so.

And that’s ideal for coach Paul Crarey who does not have to worry about losing precious training time to keep his squad on their toes.

When conditions mean it is impossible to train outside the Barrow Raiders can be accommodated at the drop of a hat at DW Fitness for spinning sessions, a boot camp, swimming or general fitness.

The players can also use any spare time for individual training sessions.

DW were happy to forge links with Barrow Raiders as it also helps them with members able to meet up with their heroes during training sessions at the gym.

Exciting Barrow Raiders hooker Dean Paratais is a regular visitor to DW, which is based on Cornmill Park, Hindpool Road, and is close to the JF Hornby Stadium.

He caught up with sales manager, Chris Carr at DW to ask him what the partnership with Barrow Raiders meant.

“We got involved with Barrow Raiders as they are one of the biggest club’s in the town,” he said, adding DW manager Aiden Murphy has always been a big Barrow Raiders supporter.

“The players get a good benefit,” he said. “They get a massively reduced membership, we offer them sessions at the drop of a hat so if they want spinning class or boot camp we accommodate that.

“We have got fantastic state-of-the-art gym equipment and we have a 20-metre pool, saunas, a steam room and two studios.”

He said the partnership between Barrow Raiders and DW that it can be very successful for both parties.

“We did a challenge just before Christmas and we got Barrow Raiders down, and members were buzzing, they enjoyed it.”
