Chill out time for Barrow Raiders ahead of cup final
THERE may be a huge cup final showdown ahead but the Barrow Raiders players managed to find some much-needed chill out before this weekend’s clash.
Paul Crarey’s troops head to the League One Cup final against North Wales Crusaders at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, as part of Rugby League’s Summer Bash this Saturday, hoping to pick up their first piece of major silverware of the season (kick off 12noon).
But the players needed time to recharge their exhausted bodies after a busy match schedule which has seen them face Keighley Cougars, Super League Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup, and then travel to Toronto Wolfpack.
Coach Paul Crarey is hoping a Cryopod session, which took place in the town, will ease some pain from his squad’s tired limbs before tackling the Crusaders.
Each player spent between two and four minutes – depending on the level of their problems – in the special machine set at –100C to –130C for the treatment.
Hopefully that will have taken the stresses and strains out of their bodies ahead of what could be a memorable day at Blackpool, where the Raiders will be wanting to bring home more than just a stick of rock.
Crarey feels the Cryopod treatment helps the players and said: “We believe it refreshes their bodies, helps you through injuries and bruising, anything that can help us over this period.”
